Photovoltaic Trackers withstand the force of Hurricane MichaelHurricane Michael, the third most intense Atlantic hurricane to make landfall, reached US land as a Category 4 hurricane on October 10, 2018. It weakened upon making landfall, but continued to move across south Georgia as a Category 2 hurricane. Solar Sun World completed the installation of 17 dual-axis tracking systems at the Lee County Wastewater Treatment Plant on September 21, 2018. According to the Albany Herald, Hurricane Michael caused wind gusts of up to 100 mph in that area tearing down trees, ripping facades off of buildings and downing power lines. However, all 17 tracking units withstood the force of the hurricane without any damage.

As shown in the picture, trees were down all around the trackers, but no damage was done to them.

Animal Protection for fix-mounted solar systems

Perforated aluminum sheets with 1/2in square holes allow air flow underneath the solar panels and protect the wires against squirrel and other animal bites.
